I am pleased to announce that Darren Millar MS has been elected as the Leader of the Welsh Conservative Group in the Welsh Parliament and will lead the official Opposition. I would like to congratulate Darren on his election and I know he will do a superb job in leading us into the 2026 Senedd elections.

I have known Darren personally for a number of years and he has the strength, experience and determination to convince the people of Wales that the Welsh Conservatives have the ability and ideas to end what would be 27 years of Labour rule in 2026.

We enter 2025 with a renewed sense of optimism, having recently won several council by-elections, and delivered over 300,000 leaflets across our recent action days. We still face a significant challenge ahead to renew our Party, but with our new Party Leader in Kemi Badenoch, Darren leading the Senedd Group, and Mims Davies as Shadow Secretary of State for Wales, I know we have the team to succeed and I am proud to lead the Voluntary Party as Chairman of the Welsh Conservatives.

United behind this team we can continue to renew and rebuild our Party, whilst holding the Labour UK and Welsh Governments to account.

Yours sincerely,

Bernard Gentry

Chairman of the Welsh Conservatives
